DEPUTY Speaker and Valenzuela City 2nd District Rep. Eric Martinez on Mondsy strongly called for the national, local government units (LGUs), and the private sector as well to push the vaccination rollout of one million Filipinos daily to quickly bolster the country’s economic activities and be able to significantly bring down the number coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) positive cases.

Martinez made the statement in light of the country’s ongoing economic slump following the heavy-hitting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic specially to small and medium enterprises.

According to Martinez, Indonesia was able to rollout an average of about 1,702,920 doses each day last week, while Reuters COVID-19 Tracker reported that it’s over 1.3 million more than the Philippines’ 428,531, while Thailand landed at about 751,846 jabs daily.

In turn, Indonesia’s daily average infection is decreasing with only 975 cases reported, just 2% of its highest daily average reported on July 18, compared with Philippines’ 8,437.

Martinez also stressed that supply is no longer a problem as the country’s vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the country is receiving an average of 1.5 million vaccines per day, with more than 14 million doses shipped to the country in the first week of October.

“This is the time that we ramp up our vaccination, with both the public and private sectors heavily involved,” Martinez said, adding that the government even reported of the country having a stock of 30 million doses

Likewise, the Valenzuela City lawmaker is confident that his proposal is very much doable as the country had now reach a steady supply of one million doses a day.

“As the end of the current fast approaching, further economic mobility is needed especially in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the urban areas of CALABARZON, Panay, Cebu, and Davao regions to alleviate our problems of unemployment and further economic mishaps,” Martinez added.

Meanwhile, Martinez also called on the government to bolster its information and dissemination to further encourage to people on need to be vaccinates as soon as possible.

He reiterated that there is no room for the so-called vaccination hesitancy and the government must be able allay the fears of some of getting inoculated.
