THE UniTeam tandem of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte vowed to look into the problems of the sugar industry and offer possible solutions.

Both Marcos and Mayor Sara met sugar planters and farmers in a dialogue as part of the campaign sortie in Negros Occidental, the country’s biggest sugar producer.

Meanwhile, some 25 of the province’s 31 town mayors and several lawmakers committed their support to the BBM-Sara ticket.

According to Mayor Sara, their meeting with sugar planters and farmers centered on the problems besetting their industry.

Mayor Ella Celestina Yulo of Moises Padillla town, one of the mayors who attended the dialogue, said it is important for the government to find solutions to the problems of sugar-producing provinces.

Sugar producers have earlier complained about continued sugar importation. Aside from Negros Occidental, there are several other sugar-producing provinces in Visayas, Mindanao and Luzon, including Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Bukidnon, Batangas, Pampanga, and Tarlac.

During the campaign rally held at the Bredco Port reclamation area in Bacolod City, Mayor Sara said the UniTeam will focus on jobs and livelihood opportunities should they win the May 2022 elections.

She is the vice presidential candidate of Lakas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

The presidential daughter also said they would continue the programs and reforms of his father, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The Davao mayor vice presidential aspirant urged Filipinos to unite behind the leaders they will elect in May in solving the nation’s problems.
