Thousands join ‘Alay Lakad’ for Cavite City youth

TO make the Cavite City Day celebration “meaningful”, the local government here prepared week-long activities, including the “Alay Lakad for Caviteño Youth, on early Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022.

Led by Cavite City Mayor Denver Chua, Vice Mayor Raleigh Rusit, and Councilor Nash Aguas of the Committee on Tourism in a walk from Checkpoint Arch in Dalahican up to Samonte Park grounds which was participated by thousands of residents of 84 barangays, Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), local police, BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology), BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection), DepEd (Department of Education), and DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) Cavite under Rowena Andrade.

Chua, Rusit, and Aguas, along with other city councilors, also led the opening of the Historic Ciudad De Cavite Photo and Food Exhibit at SM Rosario activity center to show the history of the city through a photo exhibit and famous foods found in the said city at 4:00 p.m. on September 3, 2022.

“Dito ninyo po makikita na buhay na buhay ang history at culture of Cavite,” Mayor Chua said in interview with this People’s Tonight correspondent.

A coastal cleanup is also scheduled on Sunday, Sept. 4; 82nd Cavite City Day, City Charter Day Celebration on Sept. 7; Comelon 2022 Comida De Ayer Food Fair on Sept. 7 to 9; DSWD Day on Sept. 8; Araw ng Kawani on Sept. 9; and XII Martyrs Day on Sept. 12.

As a consolation to those who attended the exhibit, SM City Rosario gives a free SM Advantage Card to all those who registered for the said exhibit.

Cavite City became a component city on September 7, 1940.
