THE Basco Batanes and Itbayan airports are preparing to resume their operations, ranking official of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported.

Eric Apolonio, the spokesperson of CAAP, said that based on the advisory submitted by Airports Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Louie Asantor and Jordan Estoy, respectively, there were no damages to airport facilities and equipment following the bad weather brought by typhoon “Henry”.

Apolonio said Asantor and Estoy led their personnel in cleaning up airports from debris from the runway and terminal to accommodate flights.

“Siguraduin muna malinis at safe na ang Basco Batanes at Itbayan airports bago mag-resume sa operations, at good news, walang equipment na nasira sa facility ng dalawang airports,” said Apolonio.

Once the airports are ready for operations, CAAP will notify airline companies that they can resume flights to and from Batanes.

Earlier, CAAP suspended all flights in the said airports due to the bad weather brought by typhoon “Henry”.
