A LAWMAKER has initiated a relief mission to help thousands of flood and landslide victims in Misamis Occidental by sending three choppers full of relief goods.

“Several bridges were destroyed by floods, and landslides also cut off land transportation, stranding hundreds if not thousands of people. The victims needed our immediate assistance,” Negros Occidental 3rd District Representative Arnie Teves said, stressing other areas could not be reached by land transportation.

Teves’ staff said the lawmaker did not hesitate to tap the services of the three choppers, underscoring the immediate need to deliver goods to save precious lives.

The choppers carried quick meals, shirts, and rice delivered to the Oroquieta City of Misamis Occidental.

It will be recalled that Misamis Occidental was declared under a state of calamity following the bad weather condition.

The incident destroyed several bridges, and rivers overflowed into low-lying areas, damaging rice fields, drowning farm animals, and causing hundreds of bus passengers and motorists to be stranded.

The officials of Misamis Occidental have been asking for immediate assistance, especially food items, for the victims.
