T2000 captures ERJHS 3×3 cage crown

TEAM 2000 lived up to its high billing by winning the first-ever E. Rodriguez Jr. High School Alumni 3×3 basketball championship at the Barangay N.S. Amoranto covered court in Malaya St. Quezon City.

Led by brothers Mark and Jeff Caguisa, T2000 defeated Batch 98, 14-10, to capture the title in this two-day competition organized by the ERJHS Alumni Sports Club, headed by Ed Andaya of Batch 81, as part of the ERJHS 72nd Foundation Day and Grand Alumni Homecoming last Feb. 23-25.

Mark Caguisa was later named as the Most Valuable Player in the event supported by the ERJHS Alumni Association, headed by President Jess Asistin and Vice-President Zeny Castor, and Barangay N.S. Amoranto Chairman Ato de Guzman.

Handled by playing coach Jerome Nell, T2000 defeated Team 80s in the semifinals.

The other members of the team are Kelvin Pantaleon and Chris Santiago.

Batch 98, which won over Batch 96 in the semifinals, were led by Art Marino, Chris Mallari, John Bucat and Allan Aguilar.

Teams 80s, bannered by Mike Gomez, Voltaire Penaga, Adonis Geolin, Rodrigo Sabando and Arnold Tanare, finished third.

Incoming ERJHS alumni president Ramon Ferreros of Batch 73 awarded the trophies to the winners, assisted by Asistin and Andaya.

The tournament attracted 10 alumni teams, which were divided into two groups.

The other teams are Batch 96 which finished fourth place, Batch 2000, Batch 93, Batch 89, Roberto Castor Rover Scouts and Batch 94 A and B.

Richard Nell served as the tournament director with kagawad Michael De Castro, Robert Capistrano and Vic De Guzman composing the technical commitee.

The tournament is supported by PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial and Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro, Barangay Paang Bundok Chairman Maca Chua Batch 85 Sports Club president Jo Aldana, Batch 93 head Lizette Mariano, Czyra’s Pizza, Kagawad Mara Linsangan’s Bookizzling Plates and Ping Ping Lechon.
