Syndicate selling illegal drugs online busted in Boracay

BORACAY, Malay, Aklan – A syndicate allegedly selling marijuana online busted Monday by the Boracay police with the arrest of two suspects in Sitio Cagban, Barangay Manocmanoc, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

Col. Don Dicksie de Dioos, Boracay police chief, identified the arrested suspects as Kenjie Miguel, resident of Zone 5, Balabag, Malay, Aklan and Johnbert Arabit y Mora, of Zone 5, Manocmanoc, Malay, Aklan.

Confiscated from the suspects were four small sachet of suspected marijuana, another two plastic bags of suspected marijuana; two P500 bills marked money.

The seized illegal drugs have an estimated weight of more or less 50 grams, said de Dios.

The arrested suspects are under the custody of the Boracay police and are facing for criminal charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Art II RA 9165.

The almost two months’ surveillance, validation and actual operation were undertaken by a team composed of by Lt. Juben Vega PLT under the direct supervision of Col. de Dios and the PDEA Aklan-Boracay Sub-Office led by Agent Joy Ann P Tomas, Acting TL Boracay.

De Dios pointed out that although the suspects were not listed in the Station`s Drug Watchlist, they are transient visitors of the island and ply their trade thru online and text transactions. Selling and delivery were made via J&T Express Padala.

Police Colonel Ramir Perlito Perlas, Aklan PNP Provincial Director lauded the successful buy-bust operation while Mayor Frolibar Bautista praised the accomplishment and extended his congratulations to Malay PNP personnel for being steadfast in performing their sworn and mandated tasks.
