As we embark on our 40 Days of Lenten Contemplation and Preparation; allow me share with you some of my #kasabihansakamalayan poems which you can use as part your spiritual journey during this liturgical season. As a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection at Easter, may these vignettes of thought help you in your recollection process.

WEAK people seek revenge,

STRONG people forgive.

WEAK people performs in mediocrity,

STRONG people works with excellence.

WEAK people finds faults,

STRONG people seeks solutions.

WEAK people bullies the weaker person,

STRONG people carries up the lowly.

WEAK people despairs in trials,

STRONG people kneels for God’s help.

& WEAK people never acknowledges limitations.

But STRONG people will always ask for assistance if they need a helping hand.

LOVE is given.

HOPE is endured.

FAITH is personified.

RESPECT is earned.

TRUST is gained.

TRUTH is embodied.

LOYALTY is returned.

EXCELLENCE is aspired.

CHARITY is shared.

And, WISDOM is lived.

The FLAVORS of life you will taste,

When you CHOP off negativity in haste.

Then SIMMER and BREW ideas that are new,

For innovation changes your point of view.

SAUTE to mix the crossroads of experience,

To SAVOR its lessons & not mere adherence.

Never BURN nor FRY relational bridges,

You need each person to share your DISHES.

Such is the art of COOKING in Life’s kitchen,

To which our tools in faith can be SHARPEN.

Be CHILDLIKE in innocence,

Not CHILDISH in indolence.

Be CHILDLIKE in inquisitiveness,

Not CHILDISH in disinterestedness.

Be CHILDLIKE in simplicity,

Not CHILDISH in implausibility.

Be CHILDLIKE in humility,

Not CHILDISH in inflexibility.

And be CHILDLIKE in truthfulness,

Not CHILDISH in mendaciousness.

DON’T RUSH,

Rome was not built in a day

DON’T RUSH,

Good things take time, great things take a little longer.

DON’T RUSH,

It takes quantity to reach quality.

DON’T RUSH,

It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.

DON’T RUSH,

All wines get better with age

DON’T RUSH,

Just wait for God’s perfect time.

UNDERESTIMATING Evil,

Leads to IGNORING Evil,

Leads to ALLOWING Evil,

Leads to LEGITIMISING Evil,

Leads to PROMOTING Evil,

Leads to CELEBRATING Evil,

Leads to BECOMING Evil.
