A SECURITY guard suffered multiple injuries after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed and ran over him while directing traffic in Mandaluyong City on Sunday.

The report showed victim, identified as Christian Floralde, was manning a traffic flow along Julia Vargas and Saint Francis Street at around 4:00 p.m.

According to an initial report, Floralde asked a white Toyota Rav 4 to stop, however, the driver of the SUV did not stop. Instead of stopping, the SUV hit the guard on his left leg, which caused him to fall.

The security guard had already fallen but the driver proceeded to run him over and immediately fled the area.

Traffic enforcers in the area tried to chase the SUV, but they failed. The victim was rushed to the VRP hospital for immediate treatment.

He is currently under observation and sustained head injuries and fractures on his rib.

The Mandaluyong City Police said the plate number of the SUV is now being verified at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to identify its owner and driver.

In a radio interview, Col. Mel Unos, Mandaluyong Police chief, said that they are now just waiting for the official document from LTO before filing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury against the SUV driver.
