SECURITY forces on Tuesday morning captured a wanted terror suspect in Mindanao during an operation in Cotabato province, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., said yesterday.

The top cop said the arrested suspect, “Jordan Kamad,” was a known member of the Daulah Islamiyah terror group wanted on charges of murder and frustrated murder.

According to the PNP chief, combined operatives of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 and the Army’s 90th and 70th Infantry Battalions (IBs) tracked down the elusive suspect in his hiding place in Barangay Salat in President Roxas, Cotabato.

The PRO 12, headed by Brigadier Gen. Jimili L. Macaraeg, described the fugitive as a member of a Daulah Islamiyah/Alkhobar Group under the late Salahuddin Hassan, who gained notoriety for their involvement in terror bombings and extortion activities in many parts of Mindanao.

Judge Jose Tabosares of the Kidapawan City Regional Trial Court Branch 23 ordered the arrest of the suspect without bail for the murder case filed against him on September 24, 2021.

“The arrest of Kamad is a significant development in the PNP’s anti-criminality operations and campaign against wanted persons especially known affiliates and supporters of terrorist groups. I commend PBGen Jimili L Macaraeg, Regional Director, PRO 12, for this accomplishment and urge every police officer to continue their anti-criminality operations to keep our community a safe place to live,” Azurin said.
