Rappler deleted its Facebook presidential survey after its propaganda moves came to light under the scrutinizing eyes of netizens.

Rappler also apologized to angry netizens and explained that the survey had to be taken down since it was not aligned with their objectives.

However, even after taking it down, vloggers still chided the media outfit for its attempt to deceive the public into believing that independent presidential aspirant Leni Robredo is now getting the support of netizens.

“Hindi kinaya ng sistema ninyo, hindi kinaya ng program niyo, Facebook and Rappler, kung tinambakan man nila agad si Leni ng 100k o 150k para mahirapan si BBM. Epic fail,” vlogger Maui Becker, also known as Princess Maui, said.

Princess Maui also expressed suspicion that, as administrator of Facebook Philippines, Rappler had access to inactive accounts and misused the authority by using those accounts to cast a vote after a check on those who clicked heart showed that they were mostly accounts of Pakistanis, Arab, poseur, accounts without profile pictures, or fake accounts

Meanwhile, vlogger Chika-Doro tagged the poll as a sabotage survey as he complained that he clicked the shocked emoji but his friends later told him that it was changed to heart, arousing suspicion that the auto-heart feature of the post was turned on.

“Itong survey na ginawa ng Rappler ay real sabotage. Survey pa lang ito, pinagpapractice-an na po tayo na dayain, dayain ang boto ng mga Pilipino. Grabe na tong Rappler,” he said.

“Nakakalungkot isipin na niloloko na naman tayo nitong biased press, biased media na ito,” another vlooger, Kasangga Jay, also said for his part.

Rappler asked Facebook users in an October 7 poll to respond with a specific emoji to indicate their preferred presidential bet. Its poll had the question: “Who is your presidential bet for the 2022 elections?”

An amused emoji is a vote for Senator Panfilo Lacson, a thumbs up sign for Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, a heart emoji for Robredo, a shocked emoji for Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., and a caring emoji for Senator Manny Pacquiao.

The manipulation was discovered when the total number of those who reacted did not tally with the list of netizens who actually reacted.
