QCPD nabs former cop tagged in remittance center robbery

Policemen arrested a former cop who reportedly robbed a money remittance center in Quezon City.

PLt. Col. Ritchie Claravall, the Station Commander of PS 2, identified the suspect as Patrolman Dennis Marucut, a dismissed policeman formerly assigned with Police Regional Police 3, of legal age and a resident of San Juan, Apalit, Pampanga.

Report showed that a robbery holdup transpired on November 9, 2021, at about 9:05 a.m. at Palawan Express branch located at No. 162 Roosevelt Ave. corner Delmonte, Bgy. Delmonte, Quezon City, involving an unidentified male person wearing PNP New Pixelized Uniform, more or less 5’6 in height, medium in built, on board a blue and gray Yamaha Aerox who was later identified as Patrolman Dennis Marucut.

The suspect was positively identified by the tellers of Palawan Express through the picture provided by the CIDU operatives based on the description of the suspect from the CCTV cameras in the area.

After positively identifying the suspect, a hot pursuit operation was immediately conducted which resulted in his arrest along Mc Arthur Highway, Apalit, Pampanga at about 10:00 a.m. last November 11.

Investigation further disclosed that suspect Marucut was identified as a former policeman through his Philippine National Police identification card and was assigned with Police Regional Office 3 in Pampanga but has been AWOL (absent without official leave) last 2020.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were an orange Honda Beat motorcycle, which is still on the process of verification, a grenade and a Llama pistol caliber .9MM.

Cases for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and RA 9516, or Codifying the Laws on Illegal/Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, Dealing in, Acquisition or Disposition of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives and Robbery, will be filed against the suspect before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
