MANILA Mayor and presidential aspirant Isko Moreno said the city government of Manila is willing to help and lend its expertise and even its vaccinating teams to provinces that are lagging behind in terms of achieving the needed numbers of vaccinated population.

Moreno broached the idea as he again nixed the idea of goggles being pushed as replacement for face shields, saying the focus should instead be shifted to an accelerated vaccination of those living in the provinces.

“Let us go to the provinces. We in the city government of Manila, for one, are willing to help with the needed medical frontliners in the provinces that would require them,” the mayor said.

Moreno said nearly all cities in Metro Manila have already achieved the safe average in terms of the number of residents that have been jabbed within their respective areas of jurisdiction.

Moreno said Manila has many vaccines in store which is why the vaccinating teams, under the supervision of Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold Pangan, are now into saturating all the barangays in the city, in search of those who may remain unvaccinated.

Meanwhile, Moreno said he is shocked as to how some health authorities have come up with the idea of pushing for goggles as replacement for face shields, even after the 17 mayors in Metro Manila, no less, agreed to lift the mandatory use of faceshields.

“Hirap na hirap na ang mga tao. Mas mahal pa ang goggles. Do they have an idea of what they are doing? Show us a scientific study. Pag ginamit ng ibang bansa, sige, because I don’t think we are better than them,” said Moreno, who is also running for President under the Aksyon Demokratiko party.
