AFTER determined encouragement in pushing for its employees to get vaccinated, 87 percent or 6,046 of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) employees are now vaccinated. Meanwhile, 13 percent or 879 employees remain unvaccinated and are waiting for vaccination.

The data covers the 6,944 permanent, contract of service/job order, and contractual employees of CAAP stationed in its central office in Pasay City, its 12 area centers regionally, and in the 80 airports it operates around the country.

The good news comes after the continued drive for vaccination in the workplace that is being spearheaded by the Authority’s Office of the Flight Surgeon and Aviation Medicine (OFSAM) and the leadership of the Authority’s director general, Captain Jim C. Sydiongco.

“We believe that promoting vaccination is the way to go as it will help us live in our new normal. From the start, we have always wanted to provide a safe working environment for our employees. Our workforce is the heart of the Authority, so having a healthy workforce is part of creating a safe working environment,” said Sydiongco.

Moving forward, the CAAP management will still be taking on measures against COVID-19 such as strict compliance to minimum health protocols within the premises of its offices as well as vaccination drives.

Included in this vaccination efforts are the holding of a virtual town hall meeting for unvaccinated employees and joining vaccination opportunities during the National Vaccination Day from 29 November to 1 December 2021.
