Firearms, grenade seized

QUEZON CITY policemen arrested three suspects, including a former PNP (Philippine National Police) member, for a robbery hold-up and yielded a hand grenade, firearm, and ammunition in separate operations conducted by La Loma Police Station (PS 1) and Galas Police Station (PS 11) in Quezon City.

P/Lt. Col. Garman G. Manabat, station commander of PS 1, said the former cop was the suspect in an incident last September 13, 2022, when a female victim was using her cellphone at Barangay Salvacion, Quezon City, and the suspect on board his driven motorcycle suddenly appeared and grabbed her cellphone and sped-off towards unknown direction.

PS 1 immediately conducted a follow-up operation after the victim filed a complaint the next day, which resulted in the suspect’s arrest at about 7:30 p.m. (Sept. 14, 2022) along Kundiman St., Bgy. 511, Sampaloc, Manila.

Recovered from the suspect were one caliber .38 revolver loaded with six ammunition, a hand grenade, and a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle.

Meanwhile, Galas Police Station (PS 11) under P/Lt. Col. Richard Ian T. Ang arrested two suspects from Bgy. Tatalon, Quezon City.

The report showed that at about 11:30 a.m., Sept. 14, 2022, along E. Rodriguez Sr., Blvd., corner Banaue St., Bgy. Doña Aurora, Quezon City, the victims were on board a jeepney when the duo posed as passengers declared hold-up and forcibly took the victims’ belongings and escaped.

The victims followed them and sought help from patrolling lawmen nearby, who immediately responded and arrested the suspects. Police recovered one cal. 38 revolver, a cutter blade, and the stolen cellphone.

The suspects will be charged with robbery and for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
