ONE hundred and forty-nine known lawbreakers were hauled to jail by agents of the Police Regional Office 10 in their latest simultaneous anti-criminality operation in Northern Mindanao, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

PRO10 director, Brigadier General Ricardo G. Layug Jr. said that those operations also resulted in the confiscation of nearly P1 million worth of shabu, loose firearms and illegal gambling bets and paraphernalia.

The official said that among those arrested were dozens of wanted persons, many of them facing non-bailable criminal cases in the region including rape and illegal drugs and firearms’ possession.

Last March 9, he said that three of the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Valencia City,Bukidnon.

The suspects who include a 50-year old watchman from Barangay Batangan who is under probation for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2023 yielded more than P10,000 worth of shabu, two home-made firearms with several live ammunition.

On Monday, undercover officers from the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group under Brig. Gen. Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. and the local police arrested a ‘high-value individual’ in entrapment operation in Cagayan de Oro City.

The 46-year old suspect, a resident of Block 3, District 6 in Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City yielded three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 51 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P346,800 and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

The two arrested suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165.

“This accomplishment is a manifestation that the Police Regional Office 10 is relentless in its fight against illegal drugs. We, together with other agencies and communities, are doing our best to stop or at least lessen the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region. I would like to call on everyone to continue supporting our effort to create a drug-free and peaceful community in Northern Mindanao,” said Brig. Gen. Layug.
