THE Philippine National Police headed by General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. this week conferred the Performance Governance Status (PGS) Institutionalized Status to the Police Regional Office 10 headed by Brigadier Gen. Ricardo T. Layug Jr.

Acorda, joined by the PNP Command Group and members of the National Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development, lauded the PRO10 for successfully passing the institutionalization evaluation process and meeting the mandatory requirements for the fourth and final stage of the PGS.

The PRO 10 received a Gold Eagle Award from the Center for Police Strategy Management headed by Brig. Gen. Victor V. Arevalo for garnering an overall rating of 95.34 percent during the institutionalization evaluation process.

“Institutionalized Status signifies the highest level of commitment to governance reforms and performance excellence. PRO 10 has demonstrated exceptional dedication in implementing strategic initiatives and ensuring that these efforts have a positive impact on the community,” Gen. Acorda said.

Layug acknowledged the collective effort of the men and women of the PRO 10 in their journey to PGS Institutionalization.

Among the breakthrough results of the PRO10 include a significant reduction of 60.45 average monthly crime rate from 2014 (85.22) to 2021 (24.77); and a significant drop in the number of average monthly index crime rate from 36.44 in 2014 to 3.50 in 2022.

Layug said in addition, the solid trust and confidence of Region 10 residents to the police is another morale-booster to the regional police force.

He said based on the survey conducted by the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines and Mindanao Development Authority, PRO 10 got a highly-satisfied public rating in terms of community satisfaction, respect, trust, safety and security.

Layug however said their PGS-Institutionalized Status marks the beginning of new challenges focused on sustaining strategic initiatives, activities and best practices to better serve the people in Northern Mindanao.
