Police officer dies in Batangas road mishap
A TOWN police chief of Lian, Batangas, died after his Toyota Fortuner SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) figured in an accident with another vehicle early morning on Wednesday in Barangay Tulo, Taal, Batangas.
Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) Regional Director P/BGen. Antonio Yarra identified the victim as P/Major Amiel Bernardo Sanhi Jr., chief of police in Lian, Batangas, and resident of Bgy. Calicanto Batangas City.
The police officer sustained multiple injuries in different parts of his body.
Authorities said the attending physician declared the victim “dead on arrival” after being rushed to the Batangas Provincial Hospital.
Police said the accident happened at about 12:50 a.m. when the victim’s SUV, bound to Batangas City, hit the ten-wheeler truck while in the same lane.
