SIX of the country’s most wanted persons (MWPs) have been hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) in a series of manhunt operations last week aimed at helping keep the streets much safer, PNP-AKG Director Brigadier General Rudolph B. Dimas said on Monday.

“These arrests were made in line with our ongoing effort to account not only for kidnappers but also other most wanted criminals in the country as ordered by PNP Officer-in-Charge [PNP-OIC], Lt. Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr.,” the official said.

Brig. Gen. Dimas said that one of the suspects, the 7th MWP in Bohol province, was tracked down in his hiding place in Purok 5, Bgy. Lubang in Buenavista municipality last July 4 by members of the AKG Visayas Field Unit (AKG-VFU) with the support of the local police.

The suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Panfilo Sala Jr. of the Mandaue City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 28 last June 6. A P200,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.

The 2nd MWP, a laborer from Silay City in Negros Occidental wanted for six counts of sexual abuse, was arrested on the same day by the AKG-VFU based on a warrant issued by Judge Leonardo Facultad of the Silay City RTC Br. 69.

Last July 5, the same AKG unit arrested a construction worker from Bgy. San Agustin in Iloilo City wanted for a frustrated homicide case issued by Judge Ma. Theresa Enriquez-Gaspar of the Iloilo City RTC Br. 33 on February 10, 2019 with P120,000 bail.

On the other hand, the 4th suspect, a man wanted for four counts of rape, was tracked down in his hiding place in Sitio Nigad in Bgy. Plaridel in Baybay, Leyte by AKG-VFU operatives with the help of the local police last Friday.

Judge Carlos Arguelles of the Baybay City RTC Br. 14 issued the arrest warrant with recommended P480,000 bail.

The 5th suspect, tagged as the no. 1 MWP in Bohol, was arrested by AKG-VFU men in Purok 2, Bgy. Cogon in Lila town last Monday based on the arrest warrant issued by Judge Leo Moises Lison of the Tagbilaran City RTC Br. 3 with P600,000 bail in connection with the three counts of acts of lasciviousness.

Also, last Monday, AKG-VFU officers arrested a suspect for a non-bailable case for violation of Republic Act 9165 in Purok 3 in Sitio Lanao, Dao District in Tagbilaran City.
