DARTS provided another source of pride for the Philippines.

Three Filipino darters — Jan-Jan Hinojales of Davao City, Lovely Mae “Bebang” Orbeta of Manila and Karen Lapiz of General Santos City — made the country proud anew when they completed a 1-2-3 finish in the PDD Malaysian Masters 2022 darts championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last Sept. 16-17.

Hinojales crowned herself as the champion in the ladies open singles event in the prestigious competition organized by the Malaysian Darts Association.

Orbeta settled for runner-up honor, while Lapiz took third place in the prestigious two-day competition, which attracted 69 female participants,

All three outstanding Filipina darters belonged to Tropang LUZ-VI-MINDA under team manager FridaMorelos.

“My heart is filled with gratefulness. Tropang Luz-Vi-Min reigns again,” said Morelos in a Facebook post.

“We’re very happy for this newest success of our darts team.Salamat po Cong. Bem Noel, Maam Roo Imperial-Soncuya of Robson and Chiqui Toledo Roxas,” added Morelos.

In the fixed four-men’ division, the Team Kumpadres-Philippines of Duyane Decena, Dart Decena, John Ray Sajol and NJ Guelos emerged as champion.

In the men’s Best 8 are Long Longyapon, Bobby Geba, Noel Anino and Reyden Colina.

Aside from host Malaysia and the Philippines, the other participating countries are Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia and India.

Among those present during the event proper are Nancy Ambrose, former president of Malaysian Darts Association and now an international darts organizer; and Russ Bray, the famous voice of Professional Darts Corporation.
