WITH the new administration led by the incumbent president, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) is ready for the so-called “transition period” towards the new government.

PCUP Chairperson and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Undersecretary Alvin S. Feliciano, in his statement last week at their transition meeting, “Due to the nature of our commission that is deemed to change administration after six years, we [PCUP] are now ready to whoever the next chairman and commissioners will be.”

He also added that PCUP is now orienting its staff on the adjustments of the processes to be done in light of the following events.

In addition, PCUP is also preparing its transition plan and manually made by the officers of the commission.

Part of which is the status of current PCUP programs and services such as “Three (3) Priority Programs”, service caravans, monitoring of demolition and eviction cases, and the process flow of pending documents and the proposed budget for 2023.

Also addressed is employment status, particularly for its seasoned and job-order employees.

Usec. Feliciano promises that PCUP will “continue to serve the urban poor nonetheless, regardless of the incumbent chairmanship.”
