On INC’s 108th founding anniversary on July 27; Marcos cites religious group’s success, global expansion
PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. visited Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) Executive Minister Bro. Eduardo V. Manalo just days before he delivers his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 25.
According to a report on Net25, Marcos visited Manalo in the INC Central Office in Quezon City on Tuesday afternoon.
He was accompanied by his son, Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos.
During the meeting, the President thanked Manalo and the INC community for its continuous support in his presidency.
He said he hoped that the religious group would continue playing a key role in society especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The President also extended advance greetings to the INC’s 108th founding anniversary on July 27.
He also admired the religious group’s success and global expansion.
The meeting lasted for over an hour, the report said.
INC was founded by Felix Y. Manalo on July 27, 1914 and its first church was established in Punta, Sta. Ana, Manila.
From only a dozen followers when it was born in the Philippines in 1914, the religious group has grown to around 2.25 million followers worldwide.
Known for bloc voting, the group announced in May that they would endorse the candidacy of Marcos and his running mate, Sara Duterte. Philippine News Agency
