Pa drowns on Father’s Day
A SUPPOSED celebration of Father’s Day on Sunday turned tragic after a head of the family drowned in a lake in Tapaz, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Jonathan Galo, 55, a resident of Bgy. Candelaria, Tapaz town.
The victim and his family went to Marugo Lake in Bgy. San Antonio to celebrate Father’s Day.
Galo and three of his relatives agreed to cross the lake on a kayak.
They were sailing when upon reaching the middle of the lake, the banca suddenly capsized.
The three relatives were able to swim for their safety while Galo failed to resurface from the water.
Members of the Tapaz Police and the local Bureau of Fire Protection searched for the victim and found him underwater.
Galo was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Family members told the police that Galo didn’t know how to swim.
