A COUPLE who were reported missing by their family were found dead inside their vehicle parked beside the road in San Fernando City, Cebu.

Businessman Gavino Sanchez, 49, and his wife, Arlene, a 47-year-public school teacher at Tubod Elementary School, were discovered dead in their Mitsubishi Strada pickup truck parked in Bgy. Tananas, San Fernando at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The couple, who were residents of Bgy. Tubog in Minglanilla municipality, were reported missing on Wednesday night.

Cpl. Mario Paul Tino of the San Fernando Police Station said they immediately responded to a call from village officials about a vehicle parked on the road and with a foul smell emanating from inside.

The engine of the pickup truck was still on when responding lawmen arrived.

Residents told the police that around 1 a.m. on Thursday, they heard gunshots from the place where the bodies of the victims were found.

Recovered at the crime scene were six empty shells. One fired cartridge was found inside the vehicle.

Relatives of the victims are eyeing robbery as motive for the twin killing.

Reports said the couple own an apartment and were engaged in catering, water refilling and lending businesses.
