P120K ‘shabu’ seized from couple in Laguna
Kampo Heneral Paciano Rizal — Bay police seized suspected shabu worth P120,000 from a live-in couple during a drug bust Saturday evening in Bay,Laguna.
PCol. Cecilio R. Ison Jr. identified the suspects who were arrested as Regin S. Bangay, 37, construction worker; and Jacquelyn A. Tobias, 32, both residents of Bgy. Tranca Grandvilla Bay.
Bay Police led by PMajor Jameson E Aguilar launched the anti-illegal drug operation around 9:25 p.m. in Bgy. Tranca, Grand Villa, Bay, Laguna in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEA) 4A.
During the operation, the suspects were caught in the act selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth P1K to a police officer who acted as poseur buyer.
Another 12 sachets of suspected shabu placed in a pouch, four P100 bills and the P1K bill were recovered from the suspects.
Bangay was arrested during a 2013 drug buy-bust in Calauan for allegedly selling shabu and in 2019 for possession of drugs.
Tobias was arrested in Pangil town in Laguna for possessing and selling shabu.
The suspects are now under the custody of the Bay Police and are facing charges for violation of section 5 and 11 of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 (RA 9165).
“The ill effects of dangerous drugs to the health and to the quality of life of the user, his family, and those whom they encounter is incalculable. But one thing is for sure, it is frustrating. It for this reason that our police stations and phone lines are always open for our ‘kababayans’ to report any information regarding illegal activities they witness in their locality. By these, we can help each barangay to get rid of dangerous drugs and the crimes that the drug addicts may commit against them,” said Ison Jr.
