Over P4.2M shabu seized in Caloocan drug busts

MORE than P4.2 million worth of shabu and firearms were seized by authorities from three drug suspects, including a woman, in a separate buy-bust operation Thursday afternoon in Caloocan City.

Northern Police District (NPD) Director P/BGen. Ulysses Cruz said elements of the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) led by P/Lt. Col. Renato Castillo arrested a suspect from Barrio Sta Rita, Caimito St., after selling a large plastic sachet of shabu worth P35,000 to an undercover cop at around 5:00 p.m. along Riverside St. Phase 12, Bgy. 188 Tala.

When frisked, the suspect yielded more or less 525 grams of shabu, two plastic sachets valued at P3,570, and the marked money used in the operation.

Earlier, at around 1:30 p.m., operatives of the Caloocan Police Drug Enforcement Unit led by P/Lt. Gilmer Marinas conducted a buy-bust operation along Phase 8B, Kaagapay Road, Bgy. 176, Bagong Silang and arrested two suspects, including a woman.

Caloocan Police chief P/Col. Samuel Mina, Jr. said his men were able to recover from the suspects 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000, a caliber .38 revolver with three live bullets in its chamber, and P37,500 marked money.

The three arrested drug suspects were charged with selling and possessing illegal drugs under Article II of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and an additional case for violating the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
