No Omicron XE, other recombinant variants yet in PH – DOH
CNN Philippines — There is no case of the “Omicron XE” and other recombinant variants of the coronavirus in the country as yet, the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.
“Wala po ho tayong nade-detect nitong mga sinasabing recombinant na mga virus dito sa ating bansa. Wala po tayong na-detect na XE, wala pa rin po tayong na-detect na XF at tsaka XD,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a media briefing.
Translation: We have not yet detected these so-called recombinant virus in the country. We have not yet detected XE, XF, and XD.
The DOH earlier said it was in talks with the World Health Organization about Omicron XE — a hybrid of the BA. 1 and BA. 2 subvariants — after neighboring country Thailand recently recorded its first case.
