NCRAA: AIMS, Olivarez prevail

ASIAN Institute of Maritime Studies extended its unbeaten record by beating St. Dominic College of Asia, 59-55, in the 30th National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) basketball tournament at the Bestlink gymnasium in Quezon City.

Karlos Lapira led the way for AIMS with 20 points and six rebounds in just 23 minutes of play for coach Kiko Flores.

JB Odvina contributed 11 points and seven rebounds, while Jerico Peralta and Mark Reyes each added six points for AIMS, which improved to 4-0.

Edward Daquioag carried the fight for SDCA with 15 points, followed by Adrian German with seven points and five rebounds.

But Didoy Proel, one of coach Bong Dela Cruz’s key scorers, was limited to six points on 2-of-12 shooting from the field.

Edward Clarete and Ivan Ares contributed six points for SDCA, which fell to 2-2.

Meanwhile, Olivarez College secured its second straight win by defeating Lyceum of the Philippines University – Laguna, 87-74.

Hanz Maycong and MJ Gallano spearheaded Olivarez’s balanced scoring attack.

Maycong tallied 12 points and five rebounds, while Gallano added 10 points and six rebounds for coach Mike Saguiguit.

John Umali contributed nine points, and Chester Jungco, Al Dhel Haiber, and Lian Barbero each chipped in with eight points.

Ivan Landicho led Lyceum’s effort with 22 markers.
