NORTHPORT Batang Pier and Terrafirma Dyip will dispute the last quarterfinal ticket in the PBA Phillipine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

Gametime is 7:30 p.m.

The match between the Batang Pier and the Dyip became necessary after both teams finisheed the one-round robin elimination phase tied at eight place with 5-6 win-loss record.

The Batang Pier recorded their fifth win after a 115-113 nail-biter victory over Blackwater Bossing while the Dyip missed their last chance at an outright playoff entry after losing to Magnolia Hotshots, 100-108.

The winner will face a tough challenge ahead as No. 8 seed against top seed San Miguel Beer, which holds as twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

San Miguel finished with a 10-1 record.

The Batang Pier of coach Bonnie Tan will ride on William Navarro, Joshua Munzon, Cade Flores and Arvin Tolentino.

The Dyip of coach Johnedel Cardel will lean on Javi Gomez de Liano, Kemark Carino, Louie Sangalang, Isaac Go, Stephen Holt and Juami Tiongson.

Last April 24, the Dyip banked on Holt’s go-ahead layup and a game-saving defensive stop in the last 3.1 seconds to squeeze out a 110-108 decision.over the Batang Pier.

Incidentally, it’s Terrafirma’s first win in eight face-offs with NorthPort over the last four years.
