NBI nabs fake dentist in Bacolod City
AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested a fake dentist in an entrapment operation in Bacolod City.
Nabbed was Karen Sujedado Oñas, 41, of Bgy. Poblacion, Bago City.
The NBI Bacolod said Oñas was arrested for practicing dentistry without a license.
An NBI agent went to a house in Bgy. 4 to meet the suspect. The agent posed as patient needing dental braces.
The NBI said the suspect was caught in the act of serving the agent.
Authorities said the suspect was asking P3,000 to P8,000 for the braces.
The NBI conducted the sting after a patient filed a complaint against the suspect.
According to the patient, he paid P5,000 to the suspect but the braces fell out shortly after they were installed.
Oñas said she learned the practice of making and installing braces through Youtube.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9484 or an Act to regulate the Practice of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, and Dental Technology in the Philippines were filed against the arrested suspect.
