THE City Government of Navotas held a mass wedding for 40 Navoteño couples, Monday, in line with the celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Mayor Toby Tiangco officiated the civil wedding while Cong. John Rey Tiangco, Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo and the rest of the city council stood as witnesses to the ceremony.

The annual Kasalang Bayan is conducted to encourage live-in couples in the city to legalize their union.

Mayor Tiangco congratulated the newly-weds and asked them to serve as good examples to their children.

Among the newly-weds are Eduardo Ramandaban, 55, and Corazon Ani, 50, who have been living together for 33 years and have raised five children.

Cong. Tiangco, on the other hand, advised the couples to continue to love and support each other.

Aside from the Kasalang Bayan, the city government also opened the Kalye Pag-ibig bazaar at Navotas Citywalk and Amphitheater. It will be open daily from 14 to 20 February at 5:30pm to 10pm.
