THE city government of Navotas granted livelihood packages to 80 Navoteños under the “Angat Kabuhayan” program of the NavotaAs Hanapbuhay Center.

Of these, 30 are senior citizens, ten are persons with disabilities (PWDs), 20 are parents of child laborers, and 20 are retired or displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Congressman Toby Tiangco encouraged the beneficiaries to strive to make their businesses flourish and succeed to help their families bounce back from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Although we no longer worry much about the pandemic, the effects of this global health crisis still linger and are especially evident in the country’s economic status. Our city government shall continue to provide more livelihood opportunities for Navoteño families,” he said.

The beneficiaries were chosen based on the recommendations from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA).

Some had businesses that closed or had lost their employment or source of income due to the pandemic.

The beneficiaries went through a business planning seminar and submitted a business plan for their chosen livelihood package.

The NavotaAs Hanapbuhay Center also conducted an entrepreneurship seminar to help them manage their businesses.

Among the livelihood packages distributed were for sari-sari stores, rice dealerships, food businesses, frozen goods, manicure and pedicure, and dishwashing soap production.

Earlier, ten solo parents also received livelihood packages under the Angat Kabuhayan Program.
