NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major General Felipe R. Natividad on Thursday lauded the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) headed by Brigadier Gen. Remus B. Medina for their major accomplishments against criminality amid the new normal.

The Metro Manila Police chief expressed his elation that the QCPD and the rest of Team NCRPO have been working “round-the-clock” to prevent criminality, specifically drugs, and ensure that the people will have a “good time sleeping” in the confines of their homes.

“Hindi tayo titigil at mapapagod na sugpuin ang laganap na paggamit at pagbebenta ng iligal na droga at iba pang uri ng kriminalidad sa kalakhang Maynila. Bente-kuwatro oras na nakaalerto ang kapulisan para sa kapakanan ng karamihan,” Maj. Gen. Natividad said.

The official, in particular, cited the major gains by the QCPD in the drive against illegal drugs, car theft, robbery-holdup, and other focused crimes in Q.C.

Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, members of the QCPD Station 11 shot a still unidentified suspected motorcycle thief dead during a gunfight beside the Q.C. Sports Complex in Bgy. Kristong Hari, Brig. Gen. Medina said.

The suspect yielded an unlicensed caliber .38 revolver and a motorbike he reportedly stole at gunpoint in Palanza Street in Bgy. Santol.

The official said that QCPD Station 11 personnel also arrested two known drug dealers during a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Damayang Lagi around 12:50 a.m. Thursday.

The suspect yielded 12 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 15 grams, valued at P102,000 and the buy-bust money.

Around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, QCPD Station 16 operatives arrested five drug suspects during a sting in Bgy. Pasong Putik, which led to the recovery of some 10 grams of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” worth P68,000 and the marked bills paid to them by a poseur buyer.

Brig. Gen. Medina said that around 2:00 a.m. last Tuesday, his men also arrested a company driver accused of “raping” a massage therapist inside a Sogo Hotel along Don Alejandro Roces Avenue in Bgy. South Triangle.

The suspect reportedly introduced himself as a policeman to the victim and stole the latter’s mobile phone worth P38,000. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the suspect.

Last Tuesday, QCPD personnel arrested two wanted persons following separate manhunt operations – one of the arrested suspects is tagged as the 3rd most wanted person on the QCPD Station 14 and is the subject of a warrant of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for rape.

On the other hand, a Caloocan City resident wanted for child abuse was arrested by members of the QCPD Station 8.

Also arrested four suspected car theft personalities in separate operations in Q.C. and Bulacan province. Members of the QCPD District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU) headed by Lt. Col. Rolando Lorenzo Jr. arrested the four concerning the theft of a motorcycle.

The official said that DACU operatives arrested one of the suspects, along Visayas St. in Bgy. Sto. Niño in Galas district.

The suspect eventually led the DACU officers to the Ar-Ar Motorcycle Parts and Accessories in Bgy. Salangan in San Miguel, Bulacan, where the three other suspects were arrested.

Recovered during the operation were five motorcycles. All suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

Last Wednesday, the QCPD Station 3 also arrested six persons who yielded some P136,000 worth of shabu and an unlicensed caliber .38 revolver with six live ammunition in Bgy. Balon-Bato.

Brig. Gen. Medina said that the suspects were caught in the act of engaging in a “shabu session” inside a house in Reading St. in Teachers’ Bliss.

The suspects were charged with violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

The QCPD director also announced the arrest of one of Metro Manila’s most wanted persons during a manhunt operation in Bgy. UP Campus in Diliman last Tuesday.

Another most wanted suspect, the subject of a non-bailable warrant for murder issued by the Q.C. RTC Branch 95 was arested in Bgy. Carsadang Bago in Imus City in Cavite last June 12.

Brig. Gen. Medina said that his men, joined by officers from the Quezon Police Provincial Office, the Police Regional Office 4-A and the Air Force Intelligence Service also arrested alias “Lola Kits/Tyan/Tian/Lola/Marsha/Daisy/Dits”, a resident of Pakil, Laguna tagged as a member of the CPP/NPA (Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army) Executive Committee in Southern Tagalog.

The suspect was arrested in Bgy. Burgos in Pakil municipality based on a warrant of arrest for rebellion issued by the Q.C. RTC Branch 55.

Last June 11, QCPD officers also arrested ten lawbreakers led by an AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) Army soldier during an operation in Bgys. Baesa, Holy Spirt, Sto. Niño and Culiat.

The QCPD director said that recovered from the suspects were an estimated 52 grams of shabu valued at P356,000.
