A CONTRACTUAL janitor returned an envelope containing P20,000 cash that he found at the arrival area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), authorities reported.

Airport authorities highly commended Nelson Palo of OmniWorx Inc., the outsource company responsible for cleaning services at the NAIA.

Authorities said Palo was cleaning the arrival Immigration area Friday when he noticed the envelope at the Immigration table.

Upon checking, Palo was surprised when he accidentally discovered that the envelope contains cash and some arrival documents.

Without thinking, Palo quickly proceeded to the Lost and Found Office of NAIA Terminal 1, Airport Police Department (APD) and voluntarily turned over the envelope with cash and important papers.

During the initial inspection by the APD, airport authorities found one health pass document under the name of a Japanese national who is subject for follow up in order to locate the whereabouts of the rightful owner.

Palo, a contractual janitor receiving P12,000 salary monthly, never attempted nor thought of keeping the envelope with cash.

“Hindi raw nito inisip na angkinin ‘yung sobre na may pera dahil malinaw sa isip niya na merong mayari na naka-iwan kaya agad niyang ibinigay sa APD lost and found,” said the police.

APD is working double time to track the whereabouts of the foreign national to inform him about his envelope with cash and important papers which are now in the custody of the APD.
