“We recognize the efforts of the DOT to inspire travellers to visit and relish in the country’s natural beauty and unique culture,” Poe added

At the same time, Poe warned that such catchy tourism slogans must not be thwarted by cringeworthy travellers’ experience.

“We must start by improving services at our airports, which are not only the nation’s gateway but also the first and last impression a tourist gets of the Philippines.” Poe stressed.

Senator Nancy Binay who heads the Senate Tourism Committee said she appreciate the initiative of DOT to enhance its marketing pitch but at the same time expressed some apprehension saying a rebranding would entail a huge amount of funds.

“It is nice to show the world that we are back on our feet and ready to welcome balikbayans and foreign guests,” Binay said as she expressed hope the approval of the new slogan passed through the focused group discussion before it was released to the public.

Earlier , Senator Francis Chiz Escudero said the slogan deserves recognition considering that the DOT chief and stakeholders really worked hard to find a way in promoting our country here and abroad.

“This slogan must have its chance to succeed and the effort of the people behind this move must be given the much needed support from the government and all sectors,” he added.

Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva explained that this move to promote our tourism industry will give additional jobs to fellow Filipinos and will give opportunities to a lot of sectors including the business community.

Villanueva said that although pandemic is not yet over, the country is slowly recovering and inviting tourist to come here by means of various activities and toourism promotions will really help in providing jobs and opportunities.

It can be recalled that no less than President Ferdinand Marcos jr, has approved the value-added tax refund program for tourists for implementation by 2024, which aims to attract more foreign investors and promote our tourism industry.

The program allows foreign visitors to get a Value Added Tax refund on products they are to bring out from the Philippines.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said the VAT regund measure for tourists should be accomodated well and should be done in digital form in order to help promote the country’s tourism industry here and abroad.
