MORE Good Samaritans from the Philippine National Police (PNP) are coming out everyday to ‘serve and protect’ their countrymates, PNP chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said on Monday.

The top cop cited the case of two policemen in Baler, Aurora who did not hesitate to donate their own blood to save the life of an ill child.

It turned out that Corporal Carlomar Donato and Patrolman Paul Kevin Aragon, both members of the Baler Municipal Police Station, were securing the delivery and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines at the Aurora Memorial Hospital in Barangay Reserva when a woman approached them.

During their brief conversation, the woman asked the help of the two policemen in finding blood donors for her child who needs a blood transfusion at the same hospital facility.

Seeing that it was a ‘life-and-death situation,’ the policemen immediately donated their blood for the child after they learned that their blood type matched that of the kid.

Eleazar said.

The top cop also commended personnel of the Banaybanay Municipal Police Station in Davao Oriental who teamed up with residents of Purok Pag-asa in Barangay Mahayag to build a house for the family of a former New People’s Army rebel who has returned to the mainstream of the society.

The policemen from the Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) Mahayag constructed a house for the family of the former NPA member under their ‘BARANGAYanihan’ quick impact project, said Police Regional Office 11 director, Brigadier Gen. Filmore B. Escobal.

The house is already nearing completion as the R-PSB members got help from other stakeholders in Purok Pag-asa and local government units.

Gen. Eleazar praised the R-PSB operatives for their effort to help the former rebel and his family have a place they can call ‘home.’
