More 1K families lose homes in Bacoor fire

BACOOR CITY, Cavite – More than a thousand families lost their homes after a fire broke out Friday, August 12, 2022, in Tramo, Barangay Maliksi 2 here.

Seven fire volunteers were reported injured and suffocated in the fire and are currently being observed in the hospital.

According to the report gathered from PMSg. Edison Fetalcurin, who is in charge of the case, at 3:52 p.m., a fire broke out in the residential area and eventually spread to neighboring houses.

Due to strong winds, the fire grew quickly and completely engulfed some houses.

Up to 50 Fire Trucks responded to the fire, reaching the 2nd alarm.

According to SFO2 Patrick Paul Morales, they said it was difficult to control the fire due to the small road and people panicking.

Some firefighters and residents were also slightly injured.

It took more than two hours before the fire was completely extinguished. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Evacuees are staying in a temporary relocation area in Maliksi Elementary School and received food packs from the local Social Welfare and Development Office.
