MC riders in slay of laborer hunted
AUTHORITIES have launched a manhunt for two motorcycle riding suspects who shot dead a construction worker and wounded two others including a responding policeman in Quezon City on Monday.
A report from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the QCPD showed that Jundel Santiago, 40, and Marian Christina Dela Cruz, 41, were attacked at the corner of IBP Road and Kalinisan street in Barangay Batasan at around 7:30 p.m.
Dela Cruz told police she met Santiago to collect his debt when they were shot.
Probers said two men on a motorcycle were involved in the attack.
The back rider pulled out a handgun and shot Santiago multiple times, killing him on the spot.
Dela Cruz ran away but the suspect shot her after a brief chase.
A bystander, Johnny Mendoza, 41, was injured after he was hit by a stray bullet on his left thigh.
A policeman responded to the scene after his Toyota Vios sedan was also hit by a stray bullet, which prompted the suspects to flee towards IBP Road.
Dela Cruz and Mendoza are recuperating from their injuries in an undisclosed hospital.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting.
