PRESIDENTIAL aspirant and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced that on Monday, the city government will begin conducting its full-blown mass vaccination of minors, particularly those aged 17 to 22 years old, as approved by the national government and beginning with those who suffer from various comorbidities.

During its pilot implementation over the weekend at the Ospital ng Maynila, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna reported to the mayor that a total of 222 minors with comorbidities received their shots without any adverse reactions.

Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold Pangan also checked on the implementation of the jab program for minors who from the fifth district.

Lacuna administered some of the vaccines herself.

Moreno said Lacuna also personally handles the house-to-house vaccination of residents who are bedridden, wheelchair-bound or who are physically unable to make it to the designated vaccination hubs due to age or disabilities.

The city government of Manila prepared for the vaccination of minors more than a month ago and that the vaccines allotted for tje purpose are Pfizer and Moderna, Moreno added.

Moreno assured the parents or guardians that only the vaccines which have been duly approved by the Food and Drug Administration will be given to the minors.

The mass vaccination, he said, will be held at the six city-run hospitals, namely Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center (GABMMC) located in the first district of Manila; Ospital ng Tondo, second district; Justice Abad Santos General Hospital, third district; Ospital ng Sampaloc, fourth district; Ospital ng Maynila, fifth district and Sta. Ana Hospital, sixth district.

“Sa pamamagitan ng bakuna, at least mababawasan na ang pangamba ninyo para sa inyong mga anak. Maaring samahan ng magulang o guardian ang mga bata,” Moreno said.

He advised the parents or guardians to wait for the text messages advising them when and where their kids could get the jab.

It was learned from Lacuna that the number of minors in the city that have to be jabbed, including those with no comorbidities, is about 80,000 to 100,000 in all.

Meanwhile, thousands of supporters on boad over 1,000 vehicles joined a surprise motorcade to celebrate the birthday of Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, as both celebrated their birthday yesterday, October 24. The motorcade was organized by alumni of the Tondo National High School, Domagoso’s alma mater and went around Manila.

Moreno, who is running for President under the Aksyon Demokratiko, had incumbents and candidates for gubernatorial, mayoral and local posts from Ifugao, Abra, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Cavite and Eastern Samar recently joining him, along with two partylist organizations, namely ACTS-OFW Party List and MP Nation.
