Man drowns in Batangas

POLICE the other day reported a man drowned as he attempted to rescue a drowning woman while swimming in the seawater off Nasugbu, Batangas over the weekend.

According to Nasugbu Municipal Police Station (MPS) commander Major Mark Jason M. Gatdula, the fatality was identified as Alfredo Jose y De Guzman of Sta. Cruz, Manila.

A cellphone call was received around 7:10 p.m. by Nasugbu MPS from the Police Regional Office 4-A RTOC and reported that a drowning incident transpired at the seawater off Bgy. Bucana, this town.

Police investigators said Jose was at the Johndel Beach Resort located at Apacible Boulevard, Bgy. Bucana at 12:05 p.m., according to his companion, Dina Fronda.

Moments later there was a commotion and some bathers were screaming about a helpless woman about to drown.

Jose allegedly moved quickly to rescue the woman but unfortunately, he was hit by a strong current and drowned.

Some local residents tried to locate him and after several hours, they found the lifeless body floating on the water.

Jose’s cadaver was brought to Nasugbu Hospital located at Bgy. 1 in this municipality.
