LAND Transportation Office-National Capital Region-West (LTO-NCR-West) Director Roque “Rox” Verzosa III has called on all division chiefs and employees of their office and district and licensing offices to consider the importance of energy consumption in government offices.

Verzosa made the call through a memo submitted to all district chiefs, employees of LTO-NCR-West, and district and licensing offices dated November 3, 2022.

He said pursuant to Administrative Order (AO) No. 110, Directing the Institutionalization of a Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) aimed to mitigate the ill effects of energy use on the environment, there is a compelling need for the government to undertake a program promoting, the judicious use of energy resources through intensified conservation efforts and efficient utilization.

Verzosa said with this in mind, the following are imposed as part of their Energy Conservation Guidelines: lights shall be turned off after office hours; turn off lights and other devices when leaving an unoccupied room; and unplug devices when not in use.

Computers are strictly for official use only and shall be shut down when not in use; operation of the air conditioning unit shall be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except in offices where continuous work or services to the public are being conducted.

All Division Chiefs and Section Chiefs (are required) to oversee the imposition of this memorandum.

Security guards on duty shall inspect office premises after office work to ensure all devices are turned off, including the water supply.

Verzosa stressed that violations of any item of the guidelines will be dealt with accordingly.

“With the unstable supply and possible shortage of fossil fuels in the future, efforts to conserve energy should be seriously considered,” Verzosa said.
