LARGE volumes of COVID-19 vaccines continue to flood the country wherein another 1,082,250 doses of US made Pfizer vaccines procured by the government arrived at 9:20 Wednesday evening [December 8] at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport [NAIA] terminal 3 on board Air Hong Kong flight LD456 from COVAX facility.

Earlier, last Monday evening, a shipment containing of 1,082,250 doses of Pfizer vaccines also procured by the government arrived at NAIA terminal 3 on board the same flight of Air Hong Kong and were met at the airport by Jaime Laya of the Department of Health [DOH], Asec Wilben Mayor of NTF/OPAPP, Col. Adrian Tecson, Airport Police Department [APD] and Bureau of Customs [BoC] One Stop Shop Mark Almase.

Meanwhile, on Thursday [December 9] at about 11:00 in the morning, is set to arrive at the NAIA Terminal 1 some 255,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines on board Korean Airlines flight KE 621 from COVAX procured by the private sectors

While, on Friday [December 10], another 698,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines procured by the private sectors are expected to arrive at NAIA terminal 1 on board China Airlines flight CI 701 around 9:30 in the morning.

Vaccine zcar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said about 46 million doses more of COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in the country this month.

The Philippines is targeting to manage seven million more COVID-19 jabs during the second round of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign set next week, the DoH said.

“We are targeting around seven million for the second dose, so we can achieve the goal to fully vaccinate 54 million individuals by the end of the year,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said in a public briefing.

Based on health record, eight million people were inoculated last November 29 to December 1 during the first leg of the government’s inoculation program.
