AROUND 598 out of the 1,232 hospitals nationwide have no new admissions of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from December 5 to 9, a health official said Friday.

“We have observed that nationally, 48.5 percent of hospitals reported no new Covid-19 admissions in the past five days from December 5 to 9,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during an online media briefing.

The top three regions with the most number of hospitals without new admissions of Covid-19 patients include Soccsksargen with 75.4 percent; Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) 73.1 percent; and Northern Mindanao, 65.7 percent.

In the National Capital Region, 62 or 39.2 percent of the 158 hospitals have logged no new Covid-19 admissions for the same period.

“Our epidemic curve shows that the current average of daily cases have (sic) further decreased by 180 cases or 27 percent this week and now 498 average cases per day. This average cases per day is already ten times lower than those reported in July of 2021 and also lower by more than half of the cases per day as of Jan. 2, 2021,” Vergeire said.

The top five regions with the most number of new cases are the National Capital Region (NCR) with 122 cases; Calabarzon, 80 cases; Central Luzon, 65; Central Visayas, 60; and Western Visayas, 42.

The top five areas with the most number of new cases are Negros Oriental with 42; Quezon City, 31; Batangas, 29; Bulacan, 27; and Cavite, 23.

“Nationally we remain at minimal risk case classification with a negative two-week growth rate at -58 percent and low risk average daily attack rate at .53 cases for every 100,000 individuals,” Vergeire said.

The country’s death tally for Dec. 1 to 9 is 47 or an average of five deaths per day. Philippine News Agency
