TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Cavite Provincial Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr., on Wednesday, admitted that he is a “fan” of popular Korean music and dramas in his post on his social media page and hinted at his opposition to banning them in the country.

“Tulad ng maraming Caviteño, ako mismo ay fan ng KPop at KDramas. I think they strike a chord in the Filipino heart,” Remulla said in his post.

“At the height of the pandemic, when most of us were locked in our homes, KDramas and KPop gave many Filipinos hope and inspiration,” said Remulla.

“Koreans also make the top tourist arrivals in the Philippines. They love our country while we love them for their world-class entertainment,” added Remulla.

He pointed out that “there are no boundaries in pop culture. Learn and take inspiration from what the Koreans have achieved.”

His post received thousands of comments, causing it to become “viral”.

His said post also included the ranking of Korea as the “no. 1 tourism spot in the world” with a 24% share, 2nd was China with a 21% share, and the United States of America with 12%.

He defended the showing of popular Korean pop music and movies like “Squid Game” and “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” on Netflix in the country. He urged local industry players to “rise to the challenge.”
