A JOBLESS man who was accused of assaulting his eight-months pregnant live-in partner was arrested by elements of Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) Tuesday evening in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said Rickman Serafin, 30 of Blk 14G, Lot 14, Teacher’s Village, Bgy. Longos was arrested at around 9 p.m. inside his abode by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued on July 17, 2021 by Malabon Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Catherine Therese Tagle-Salvador of Branch 73 on charges for violation of R.A. 9262 or Violence Against Women and Children’s Act.

The case, according to P/SMSgt. Addrich Reagan De Leon, was filed by Serafin’s pregnant live-in partner on December 2020 after she was beaten up by the accused following their heated altercation allegedly due to jealousy and financial problem.

De Leon said victim’s aunt, upon learning the incident, assisted her niece in filing a complaint before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office and later, the case was elevated to Malabon RTC, prompting Judge Salvador to issue an arrest warrant against the accused.

Police said the victim, along with her 7-month old child, is at present living in a rented room in Valenzuela City after she decided to end her relationship with the accused.

Malabon Police WSS chief P/CMSgt. Gilbert Bansil, upon receiving a tip from his informant that Serafin returned to his abode in Brgy Longos immediately conducted police operation that resulted in the arrest of the accused.
