Gang leader, cohort fall in Tondo sting

A SUSPECTED gang leader in Tondo, Manila and one of his men were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group after they conspired to sell an illegal gun to an undercover officer on Saturday, PNP-CIDG director Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said yesterday.

Allan Gonzales, 44, tagged as the leader of the so-called Gonzales Criminal Group and his pal Francis Cabrera Jr., 23, were charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2023.

According to Brig. Gen. Caramat, members of the CIDG Manila District Field Unit arrested the two during an operation on Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo on Saturday evening.

Recovered from the two’s possession were one caliber .38 revolver, a home-made pen gun, two live cal. .38 ammunition, two cal. 9mm bullets and the money.
