Former POC head Ramos to join “Sports on Air”

FORMER Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Cristy Ramos makes a rare appearance as a special guest in the sixth “Sports on Air Weekly” program via Zoom on Saturday, Feb. 12.
Ramos, who served as the seventh — and only female — president of the POC from 1997 to 1999, is expected to talk about several issues in sports during the pandemic.

A well-known international football official and founding president of the Philippine Ladies Football Association (PLFA) in 1980, Ramos will also talk about the success of the Philippine women’s football team which made history by advancing to the FiFA Women’s World Cup in 2023. The daughter of former President Fidel V. Ramos was also team skipper of the pioneering Philippine women’s national team from 1980-1986 and won a bronze medal in 1985 SEA Games.

She was also FIFA and AFC committee member match commissioner and project director of the Philippine Karate-do Federation.

This is the sixth episode of “Sports on Air Weekly”, the newest sports program managed by veteran sports journalists Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight, Ernest Leo Hernandez of SOA, Gerard Arce of Bulgar, Ivan Saldajeno of Philippine News Agency, Gab Ferreras of Sports PH.

The weekly sports program is being livestreamed through Sports on Air Facebook page and YouTube channel as well as Sports PH page.
