AFTER almost two days, a fire that hit a rubber factory in Valenzuela City was finally put out on Thursday evening, December 15, 2022.

Valenzuela Fire Marshal Supt. Anamei Legaste said the fire broke out at the rubber products factory located along P. Santiago St., Barangay Veinte Reales, at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday and was raised to fourth alarm at around 3:48 p.m.

The fire was put “under control” at around 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, but firefighters had a hard time fully extinguishing the blaze since most of the rubber products inside the burning factory, such as rubber mats and automotive rubber parts, were made up of combustible materials.

The Valenzuela Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) used chemicals mixed with water to contain the fire until it was finally put out at around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.

The Valenzuela BFP said their firefighters had to stay in the area until Friday morning to ensure the flames would not rekindle.

Arson investigators said there were no reported casualties since all employees were evacuated safely from the burning factory.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, while an estimated P45 million worth of property was damaged.
