A FORMER police officer implicated in the killing of a lawyer in 2019 was arrested in Sorsogon City, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines said on Tuesday.

The IBP said former police officer Benito Sarcilla Julian, Jr. was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on May 14, 2021 in Sorsogon City

He was tagged in the murder of Atty. Adilberto Golla Jr. in Rodriguez, Rizal last 2019.

“The cooperation and collaboration between IBP and PNP in the Lawyer Security and Justice Program continues to produce positive results… ”

“The IBP supports the conduct of follow-up investigations and operations to ferret out the mastermind and conspirators of the arrested accused,” the IBP said.

On May 17, 2019, Golla, 45, a native of Sultan Kudarat, was on board his pick-up truck en route to a meeting when motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire at him near Eastwood Greenview in Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal.

He died on the spot.

Recovered from the crime scene were 56 spent shells from 5.56 and .45 caliber firearms.
