Escapee jumps into river, drowns
A YOUNG man who had escaped from his detention cell drowned after jumping into the river to evade arrest in Paranaque City.
A report that reached the office of Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg showed that Mark Paul Canonigo, 18, drowned after being swept away by a strong current.
The body was retrieved by barangay officials Tuesday afternoon under a bridge in Brgy. La Huerta, Paranaque City.
The teener was reportedly arrested and charged for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act. He allegedly escaped from his cell at the Paranaque Police Station.
